Situated at 450 m.s.m., Malaspina Castle is the highest of the Alto Monferrato and from here it’s possible to see 14 castles among the 28 of the land, which is one of the areas with the higher castles density per kmq in Europe.
The castle had been built at the end of ’200, around a dated 1000 tower, by Tommaso Malaspina who had inherited the fief from his mother Agnese, the last heir of Bosco’s marquis of Aleramo.
Extinguished The Malaspina of Cremolino at the end of ’400, the castle had been entrusted to Sauli and Centurione, of Genoa and, to the Doria starting to the middle of ’500, thanks to it passed to Serra marquis of Genoa at the end of ’700, because of a marriage.
The castle, thanks to its triple walls circle too, has never been token so that it has maintained intact, through its drawbridge, its dated ’300 tower and its powerful ’400 donjon, its character of medieval fortress and from its defensive wall it’s possible to enjoy one of the most charming panoramic view of Alto Monferrato and Alps chain of mountains.

| Visits: | Garden, wine vault, salons and private living rooms’ castle visit is exclusively guided by the owner, during the opening days, only for two groups max. 14 persons each turn . So it is suggested to reserve the day before at least, by phone or by email, the starting turn too. FREE WINE FOR WHO RESERVS. Due to the limited turns (only two turns each day max. 14 persons each turn) it is possible to guarantee the visit only to the persons who have reserved the turn the day before by phone or by email, communicating name and telephone number. Moreover for all the adults who have reserved it will be given a Dolcetto of Ovada bottle with the Cremolino Castle’s label, at the end of the visit. ATTENTION: it’s not possible to realize visits in case of rain. Strollers and dogs (if not in one’s arm) are not allowed during the visits in the internal rooms castle. |
